New BTO Flats (Singapore): Higher Chance For Second Time BTO Buyers
According to National Development Minister Mr Khaw Boon Wan, balloting rules for second-timers applying to buy a Build-to-Order BTO flat will be changed to improve to give higher chance for second time BTO buyers.
This news on higher chance for second time BTO buyers and other new measures was announced in Parliament on 2 March 2012.
The move to give higher chance for second time BTO buyers was meant to build strong families and to encourage Singaporeans to own their homes.
Current rules allocate second-timers 5 percent of new BTO flats across all categories. With effect from the March 2012 BTO launch sales exercise, new rules will allow second-timers to buy up to 15 percent of new BTO flats in non-mature estates.
